The clothing is based on the practice of bringing up psychological demons using different meditation techniques and transforming these negative states of mind into your own creative freedom. Each garment has a tag with a QR code that takes you to a video explaining the spiritual philosophy behind each piece. Each unique piece is the embodiment of one of these teachings.
The project was birthed as a result of a previous project called, "The 8 Dissolutions, " a series of wearable fiber sculptures that told the story of the Buddhist death process in which the senses and elements shut down in 8 stages. A visualization meditation was done repeatedly to envision the textures in the pieces. Coming face to face with your own death is one way to appreciate every minute you have in this life. After The 8 Dissolutions made its rounds in several museums and galleries, SPIRIT BODY was born as a way to utilize the same teachings and concepts, but reach a wider audience and also make the mission statement more easily understood.To see Photos and the video of, "The 8 Dissolutions," Click below
